Effects of Non-uniform Substrate Temperature on the Clock Signal Integrity in High Performance Designs

چکیده
This paper presents the analysis and modeling of the nonuniform substrate temperature in high performance ICs and its effect on the integrity of the clock signal. Using a novel non-uniform temperature-dependent distributed RC interconnect delay model, the behavior of clock skew in presence of the substrate thermal gradients is analyzed and some design guidelines are provided to ensure the integrity of the clock signal.

متن کاملModeling and Analysis of Non-Uniform Substrate Temperature Effects in High Performance VLSI
A non-uniform temperature profile for the chip substrate in high-performance ICs can significantly impact the performance of the global on-chip interconnects. This paper presents a detailed modeling and analysis of the interconnect performance degradation due to the non-uniform temperature profiles that are encountered along the metal connections as a result of the thermal gradients in the unde...
متن کاملModeling and Simulation of Substrate Noise in Mixed-Signal Circuits Applied to a Special VCO
The mixed-signal circuits with both analog and digital blocks on a single chip have wide applications in communication and RF circuits. Integrating these two blocks can cause serious problems especially in applications requiring fast digital circuits and high performance analog blocks. Fast switching in digital blocks generates a noise which can be introduced to analog circuits by the common su...
متن کاملDynamic Management of Thermally-Induced Clock Skew: An Implementation Perspective
High performance VLSI designs require strict control over clock skew since skew directly impacts the cycle time calculation. For nano-meter CMOS designs, clock-skew and signal integrity are tremendously affected by process and temperature variations. A successful high performance VLSI design should not only aim to minimize the clock skew, but also control it while the chip is running. The issue...
متن کاملImprovement of Support Vector Machine and Random Forest Algorithm in Predicting Khorramabad River Flow Uusing Non-uniform De-Noising of data and Simplex Algorithm
In this study, in order to simulate the monthly flow of the Khorramabad River, the time series of this river was decomposed into three levels using the wavelet of Daubechies-3, during the period of 1955-2014. Based on this, it was found that there is a Non-uniform noise that includes two periods of time in this signal, with the October 2008 border which required that the signal be become non-un...
